Rise For Cancer Patients & Survivors

11th February 2020

Dear Friends,

Cancer is one of the deadliest disease in the world. The Tech Mahindra Foundation stands in solidarity with cancer patients and survivors by supporting projects at Karo Home in Mumbai since December 2017 and CanSupport in New Delhi since January 2018.

The Foundation has extended its support to Karo Home in Mumbai, a place that welcomes female cancer patients of ages 13 to 29 years. The home has provided free accommodation and nourishment to cancer patients undergoing treatment in Mumbai and their caregivers. A total of 55 women ( patients and their caregivers ) have been benefited by the program. We would like to share the experience of a 19-year-old survivor, Sarita Kumari – “At KARO Home, my recovery took a different route as I spent 4 months here playing games, learning yoga, celebrating festivals with co-residents and I never felt alone.”

Besides, the Foundation facilitates the implementation of Home Based Palliative care at CanSupport with the help of multidisciplinary professional teams. More than 3500 cancer patients and their caregivers in Delhi NCR have been benefited in the last two years. Rahul Sharma, whose father was suffering from oral cancer shares his feelings about CanSupport: “After running from one hospital to another, it feels good to see how selflessly and unconditionally their team works. Never did they let him give up and neither did they let us break down.”

With such endeavours, we hope to build a caring and supportive society where cancer patients and survivors can live a comfortable and dignified life. This is how we #Rise for Cancer patients & survivors.

Warm regards,
Tech Mahindra Foundation
