Understanding Social Responsibility
As a corporate social responsibility arm, Tech Mahindra Foundation through its programs create opportunities for Tech Mahindra associates to volunteer across its project locations in India. The concept of corporate volunteering at Tech Mahindra Foundation is not restricted to only doing social good but believing in it and practicing it within the Tech Mahindra family. From inspiring children with disabilities by playing with them on a sports day to cleaning the banks of river Ganga or painting the walls of schools, donating blood, conducting training sessions and mobilization drives for our beneficiaries, planting trees or for that matter making notebook kits to be distributed to students of our ARISE schools; every act of social responsibility is a step to sensitize the associates to follow a sustainable way of life. These acts of responsibilities when performed for the greater good and greater number by our associates become the hallmark of our corporate social responsibility agenda, called ‘Rise for Good’.
At TechM, the agenda of corporate volunteering is looked through the lens of ISR – Individual Social Responsibility (ISR). In the Tech Mahindra context, it is a self-driven and self-sustained model of volunteering done by each Tech Mahindra associate by giving their time towards a societal cause. The ultimate objective is to inspire others to find meaning and joy in giving back to society. The idea is to first believe in the cause, and then choose activities either suggested by the location council or participating in activities at Tech Mahindra Foundation – run centres or schools. The activities range from supporting Anganwadi in community, participating in Swachch Bharat drives, weekly/monthly engagement with TMF direct beneficiaries, awareness sessions as well as motivational sessions for our community beneficiaries.
In FY 2019-20, Tech Mahindra volunteers participated in various corporate social responsibility activities and clocked 1,68,176 hours. Whereas they clocked 164,278 hours of volunteering in 2018-19. This is how we #RiseforGood!
