TMF’s CPR Training Helps A Father to Save His Daughter’s Life
Kala Singh
First aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training have been integral parts of Tech Mahindra Foundation’s (TMF) Community Health Initiatives (CHI). Emergency health services like CPR Training can be lifesavers if administered promptly. Mr Kala Singh benefited from one such CPR training session in Chandigarh. As a firefighter by profession, Mr Singh attended a training session on First Aid & CPR conducted by our SMART Academy for Healthcare, Mohali, on July 26, 2022. The session included hands-on practice of giving CPR using mannequins.
Mr Singh had to use the learnings from the training within weeks of attending the session when his 13-year-old daughter, Harmanpreet, suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing. He described her condition as extremely critical. He immediately checked her pulse and found that she was not breathing properly. Thanks to his training, Kala Singh could identify symptoms of imminent arrest. He promptly initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and continued till the ambulance arrived. As his daughter started to recover, she was transported to the hospital.
“I want to thank the people from Tech Mahindra Foundation and the expert who trained me. I took it seriously, and it helped,” said Kala Singh, expressing his gratitude. He urges others to undergo CPR training and emphasizes its importance, saying, “Everyone should know the basics of CPR; it is crucial. We never know when or where we might need it. It can be useful at the office, at home, while travelling, or anywhere.”
