“My name is Rizwana Sayyed, and I am the only one who has studied till Class 10th in my whole family. I got a lot of love and support from my family when I started my career as an Outreach Worker in 2006 at an organisation that worked on HIV/STI control. For four years, I worked with women and girls who were sex workers by profession. Throughout my career, I was a part of various organisations that worked towards fighting against malnutrition in children, empowering youth through career guidance, skill development and employment.
The year 2018 was quite memorable for me. I was working with an NGO to empower girls through skill development and employment opportunities, where we were able to employ over 200 girls. Also, this was the year when I got in touch with Tech Mahindra Foundation. When they saw my skills and experience, they offered me a job which I accepted without any hesitation.
Presently, I am working at the Tech Mahindra SMART Academy for Healthcare, Mumbai. It was a new beginning for me as there were lots of challenges and learnings. I am grateful to the Foundation for helping me to grow, understand and enhance my capacity, and continue with my journey to guide and empower youth through skill development.”
