22 years old Priyanka Sahoo is the first girl in her family to start a job. Her father is a farmer in a village near Bhubaneswar and mother a housewife.
After graduation, Priyanka was desperately looking for jobs but could not find any because of poor communication skills and lack of confidence. Then her father approached a social worker at Ruchika Social Service Organization, who told him about job-readiness training at Tech Mahindra Foundation SMART centres.
Without losing time, Priyanka came to Bhubaneswar and enrolled at the SMART centre. Her batch mates describe her as shy, nervous and reserved. But after three months of training, she had remarkably improved her spoken English and acquired a sound knowledge of basic computers.
These skills helped her get a job at Matrix as a Telecaller. Her seniors appreciated her performance at the workplace and within the first six months she was promoted to the post of Office Administrator. Now she is earning a good salary. Priyanka says that she is happy with her work and progress in the organization.
