“My teachers taught me how to be excited about learning while challenging me every day to unleash my potential and today, I try to impart the same attitude in my students.” – Mr. Darshan Goud

Our experiences shape us as unique individuals. Darshan’s teachers made learning a joyful experience at his high school which encouraged him to become a teacher. “My teachers taught me how to be excited about learning while challenging me every day to unleash my potential and today, I try to impart the same attitude in my students.”- shares Darshan.
It is certainly disheartening and difficult for a science teacher to engage students in scientific learning without a functional laboratory to explore and understand the practicality of the subject. Darshan faced the same challengebut he triedhis best to explain the concepts with the help of experiments and activities. “Being trained at Science Academy was very useful to me as it helped me immensely to improve my practical skills, especially dissecting organs, handling the tools and equipment accurately.” says Darshan. In collaboration with Sahayata Trust, Tech Mahindra Foundation established a Science Academy in Hyderabad to enhance pedagogy skills of teachers in Science for grades 5 and above. With dedicated labs for Biology, Chemistry and Physics, the Science Academy instigates curiosity in teachers to learn and teach Science in a creative manner.
Sharing his love and passion for his subject he says”I was intrigued by Scienceduring my childhood, at school and my curiosity encouraged me to become a biology teacher. It is a subject where we learn while relating to and observing our environment and ourselves.Knowing about how our heart beats relentlessly to keep us alive or how life on earth literally sustains because of a single biochemical process, that is photosynthesis or how an invisible organism like a virus can bring the world to its feet, all of this is bewildering yet very profound in the same breath.”
Darshan is proactive in encouraging his students to participate in competitions and science fairs. He is always ready to share his best practices with Science Academy and its beneficiaries.
