“An endeavour like ‘Achieving Quality Education through Enhanced Teachers’ Capabilities’ by Pratichi (India) Trust and Tech Mahindra Foundation has opened my mind to new knowledge and methods and further increased my dedication and sense of responsibility towards my students. These workshops have made my journey as a teacher more fulfilling, meaningful and enjoyable”. – Dipak Roy

‘Never lose hope’, Dipak Roy often reminds his students. Inspirited by his teachers who inculcated the same spirit in him, he believes that students can achieve great things if they have faith in themselves. Confidence and determination aided by a committed mentor can help students go a long way in their journey according to him. In addition to his prime responsibilities of teaching mathematics and science, he goes beyond his call of duty to teach Bengali in lower primary classes.
Dipak often reminisces about the immense faith that his teachers had in him. Their belief in him helped him achieve good results and encouraged him to pursue his career as a teacher to guide young minds in fulfilling their dreams. He enjoys his work and his students hover around him like bees, beaming with expectation for his guidance. However, due to a lack of resources and infrastructure at the school, he faced challenges in improving his students’ academic progress.

Dipak thinks that the training sessions conducted as part of the Shikshaantar program in association with Pratichi India Trust have provided the teachers with a platform to enhance their skills while sharing their experiences and interacting with their fellow teachers from other schools. He has learned about various pedagogy skills from other members of the teaching community and has tried to incorporate the same in his classroom. The effects of new skills and techniques he is practicing in the classroom are clearly reflecting in the improved academic performance of his students.
