Ahana’s Growth as a Budding Singer
“I first learned vocal music in school, and now I want to pursue my dream of becoming a music teacher. My goal is to teach music to talented individuals who cannot afford a music teacher.”

Ahana Chakraborty is a student of the Calcutta Blind School ARISE+ Project
Ahana Chakraborty, 15, is a student of the Calcutta Blind School ARISE+ (Disability) project, supported by the Tech Mahindra Foundation. Her mother is a homemaker, and her father works in a local stationary shop. Access to quality education seemed impossible because of her family’s financial hurdles. But her admission to the Calcutta Blind School changed things for the better. The school is part of the Foundation’s ARISE+ project, where children with disabilities are supported with improved educational and other co-curricular opportunities.
Visually impaired from birth, Ahana’s passion for music stood out from a young age. After joining the Calcutta Blind School, Ahana started to do well in academics and her music and other skills improved with access to infrastructural facilities and teacher support. Besides music, Ahana is now a confident speaker and engages effortlessly with her classmates and teachers. This is a significant improvement as children with disabilities often face hurdles to express themselves.
She remains passionate about music and has been featured prominently in a popular music video ‘Khwaab’ released by the Foundation. Ahana now dreams of becoming a music teacher and sharing her love for music with others who do not have the means.
