Mr CP Gurnani (popularly known as ‘CP’ within his peer group), is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tech Mahindra Limited. An accomplished business leader with extensive experience in international business development, start-ups, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, Mr. CP Gurnani (popularly known as CP) led Tech Mahindra’s transformation journey, and one of the biggest turnarounds of Indian Corporate History – the acquisition and merger of Satyam. In a career spanning of over thirty-six years, CP has held several leading positions with Hewlett Packard Ltd, Perot Systems (India) Ltd. and HCL Corporation Ltd. CP has also served as a Chairman of NASSCOM for the year 2016-2017. A chemical engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, he is a distinguished and active alumnus of the Institute. CP has also been felicitated with an honorary Doctorate degree by Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology. He also serves as an active Chairman of IIM Nagpur.
CP has been chosen as the Ernst and Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year [Manager]’, CNBC Asia’s ‘India Business Leader of the Year’, Dataquest ‘IT person of the Year’– in 2013 and Business Standard ‘CEO of the Year’ in 2014. He was also awarded the ‘Best CEO of the Year’ at the Forbes India Leadership Awards held in 2015. A recent addition to the bucket was ‘Asia One Global Indian of the Year – Technology’ in 2016. CP was also listed among the top 100 global CEOs as part of The Wall Street Journal CEO Council 2016.
CP strongly believes in promoting child education. He is on the Board of the Tech Mahindra Foundation and has been actively guiding the foundation & its projects. CP, along with his wife Anita, have also founded ‘Titliyan’, an NGO located in Noida spreading smiles, happiness and education to more than 240 under privileged children.

Relevance of Regional Languages in the Context of Social Work
भाषा का मनुष्य और समाज से गहरा संबंध है। यह मनुष्य के सामाजिक प्राणी होने का सबसे बड़ा प्रमाण है। भाषा संप्रेषण का सशक्त माध्यम होने के साथ ही संस्कृति की संवाहक भी होती है। इस दृष्टि से यह एक ऐसा महत्त्वपूर्ण उपकरण है जो मनुष्य को अन्य प्राणियों से अधिक व्यवस्थित और श्रेष्ठ सिद्ध करता है।
भाषा को जानना वास्तव में समाज को जानना है| जब हम किसी भाषा की साहित्यिक कृतियों को पढ़ते हैं तो वास्तव में हम उस भाषा को बोलने–सुनने–लिखने–पढ़ने वाले समाज के सामाजिक क्रियाकलापों को पढ़ रहे होते हैं| भाषा का अपना एक समाज होता है। उस समाज का स्वभाव कहीं–न–कहीं भाषा के स्वभाव के रूप में भी दिखाई देता है।
सामाजिक क्षेत्रों में कार्य के दौरान भाषा को लेकर प्रायः दो प्रकार की स्थितियाँ देखने को मिलती हैं। एक भाषा तो वह है जिसमें नीतियाँ–योजनाएँ बनाई जाती हैं और दूसरी भाषा, जो लाभार्थी समूह द्वारा बोली–समझी जाती है। प्रायः ऐसा देखा जाता है कि इन दोनों भाषाओँ के वक्ताओँ के बीच सघन वार्तालाप और सोच–विचार के आदान–प्रदान का विशेष अवसर नहीं मिलता है। नीति–निर्माताओं और लाभार्थियों की भाषाओँ में अंतर होने के कारण अक्सर नीतियों का कार्यान्वयन अधूरा रहता है और हम वास्तविक लाभार्थी तक सुविधाएँ नहीं पहुँचा पाते हैं| यहाँ क्षेत्रीय भाषाओँ का उल्लेख करना और भी आवश्यक हो जाता है, क्योंकि आम नागरिक उस माध्यम को सहज स्वीकार करता है।
चूँकि 14 सितम्बर को हिंदी दिवस है, तो हिंदी की प्रासंगिकता पर चर्चा, विशेष रूप से सामाजिक क्षेत्र में, बढ़ जाती है। भारत देश में सर्वाधिक बोली–समझी जानेवाली भाषा हिंदी है, इसका आशय यह है कि भारतीय परिप्रेक्ष्य में हिंदी भाषा का दायरा बहुत बड़ा है। अतः हिंदी भाषी क्षेत्रों में इस भाषा के द्वारा हम अधिक से अधिक लाभार्थियों तक पहुँचते हुए सामाजिक क्षेत्र में प्रभावी हस्तक्षेप कर सकते हैं।
जिस क्षेत्र में जिस भाषा को सर्वाधिक लोग प्रयोग करते हैं उस भाषा में शिक्षा, रोजगार, व्यवसाय संबंधी क्षेत्रों में निश्चित रूप से अधिक संभावनाएँ होंगी| इसके साथ–साथ संपर्क भाषा के रूप में भी हिंदी की महती भूमिका को नजरअंदाज नहीं किया जा सकता है। इन बिंदुओं पर आधारित विमर्श–विश्लेषण के द्वारा हम अपनी समझ को एक–दूसरे से साझा करते हुए भाषा और समाज के विकास में उल्लेखनीय योगदान दे सकते हैं।

टेक महिंद्रा फाउंडेशन प्रायः प्रत्येक गंभीर मुद्दों पर संवाद का पक्षधर रहा है। पिछले कुछ वर्षों में, फाउंडेशन ने विभिन्न विषय–विशेषज्ञों की एक श्रृंखला को एक मंच पर लाने एवं शिक्षा, रोजगार, सोशल इमोशनल लर्निंग आदि विषयकेंद्रित चर्चा के लिए कई सेमिनारों की मेजबानी की है। ‘साझी समझ’ शीर्षक वाले ये कार्यक्रम, भारत में शिक्षक–प्रशिक्षण और शिक्षा के विकास से संबंधित जरूरी मुद्दों पर चर्चा के माध्यम से संवादपरक वातावरण बनाने की दिशा में महती प्रयास हैं। फाउंडेशन अपने सभी कार्यक्रमों और गतिविधियों के माध्यम से सकारात्मक संवाद की संस्कृति को बढ़ावा देना चाहता है। फाउंडेशन की ओर से साझी समझ 8 का यह आयोजन भी इसी कड़ी में एक महत्वपूर्ण हस्तक्षेप है।
साझी समझ का 8वाँ संस्करण – 14 सितंबर 2022 को हिंदी दिवस के अवसर पर, टेक महिंद्रा फाउंडेशन “सामाजिक कार्य के परिप्रेक्ष्य में क्षेत्रीय भाषाओं की प्रासंगिकता” विषय पर साझी समझ का आयोजन करेगा। यह एक ऑनलाइन चर्चा होगी।
साझी समझ-8 के लिए महत्वपूर्ण प्रश्न :
इस आयोजन में हम जिन कुछ प्रश्नों पर विचार करेंगे, वे इस प्रकार हैं:
1) सामाजिक कार्य के परिप्रेक्ष्य में क्या क्षेत्रीय भाषाओँ को पर्याप्त महत्त्व दिया जा रहा है? यदि ऐसा नहीं है, तो इसके कारण क्या हैं?
2) हिंदी भाषी सामाजिक क्षेत्र में भाषाई संवाद को सम्प्रेषणीयता के स्तर पर सभी के लिए कैसे समान रखा जा सकता है?
3) ज़मीनी कार्यकर्ताओं को नीति–निर्धारण के ताने–बाने से कैसे बेहतर तरीके से जोड़ा जाए?
4) चूँकि प्रौद्योगिकी (Technology) की प्रमुख भाषा अंग्रेज़ी है, क्या तकनीकी के बढ़ते प्रभाव के कारण भी हिंदी एवं क्षेत्रीय भाषाओँ की भूमिका क्षीण हुई है? यदि हाँ, तो इसमें परिवर्तन कैसे लाया जा सकता है?

The initial edition of Saajhi Samajh, held in April 2018, was a resounding success, in which the Keynote Address was delivered by the then Director of Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Ms. Saumya Gupta. A detailed report of this event is available here. The third edition of Saajhi Samajh was held on 3rd June 2020, wherein Mr Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi delivered the keynote address, and was well accepted by the youth and academia (the detailed report can be downloaded here). The fourth edition of Saajhi Samajh was focused on enhancing First Aid in Schools and included a virtual launch of a school safety program and panel discussion, spearheaded by industry experts and educators. The research report released during the event is here. The fifth edition of Saajhi Samajh was conducted on the occasion of World Sight Day, wherein a panel discussion with experts was organised and an exclusive research report was released for a better understanding of the significance of Eye Health. The sixth edition of Saajhi Samajh was organised on the 6th December 2021 on ‘Including Disability at the Workplace: From Aspiration to Action’ wherein a panel discussion was held to shape the advocacy towards understanding the significance of creating an inclusive work environment for persons with disabilities (PwDs). In a career spanning 14 years, Amrita has launched and scaled high-impact development interventions, combining skills across research, field operations, program incubation, and teaching/training of practitioners. In her last employment, she led the Centre for Migration and Labour Solutions, a knowledge institution specializing in seasonal labour migration and informality studies, set up by Aajeevika Bureau.
