I believe that the philosophy of Individual Social Responsibility is fulfilled when you help the beneficiaries RISE. Today, I am sharing the story of Kajol which is motivational and tell us ‘NEVER GIVE UP, NO MATTER WHAT’.
Kajol lost her father at the age of only 6. Her family had no choice and continued with ancestral begging on the streets. In a tragic accident, when hit by a train, Kajol lost her left leg during early childhood. A social worker supported in her early education, and helped her get an artificial leg along with a girl’s hostel facility to stay. Since then, a committed Kajol made a promise to herself to move away from street begging and find a way to respectable living. The Foundation along with Baliga Trust helped her to pursue studies further and join the SMART Centre Delhi. She learnt soft skills, computer skills and developed proficiency in English to find herself a DREAM JOB!
After completing Customer Relationship Sales course from the SMART Centre, she joined ICCS Pvt Ltd. She can now bear her own expenses and is working towards changing the course of her family.
Please join us in wishing Kajol and her family the very best in all her future endeavours! Watch this space for more such inspiring #RiseForGood stories.
This International Women’s Day I feel proud to share that women empowerment lies at the heart of the Foundation.
On this occasion, sharing stories of two courageous women who in the face of adversities ensured their own Success!
The first story is that of Jacquiline Mary, Headmistress from a government school in Chennai. Jacquiline was instrumental in identifying an incident of two school boys being sexually abused by three local mechanics. She made sure that justice prevailed and helped the Police to arrest the culprits under the POCSO Act, 2012. The matter is now under investigation.
We need more such teachers who are brave enough to stand up on behalf of children.
The next story is that of Anisha Shinde, who chose to empower herself by joining the General Duty Assistant course in the SMART Academy for Healthcare, Mumbai. While dropping her daughter everyday to the school, she got inspired looking at young girls learning paramedical skills at the Academy. This motivated her to take up a course that could help her pursue a dignified living.
Women like Anisha tell us that age is never a bar to learn and educate oneself.
This occasion is a fitting tribute to congratulate the #heroes like them. Join me to support this year’s United Nations theme. Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change.

#MainBhiHero: Rise with the new heroes of our society
With great pride and joy, I would like to share the film on #MainBhiHero, an initiative to raise awareness about the role of Paramedics in the Healthcare sector of India. The film talks about Individual Social Responsibility (ISR), and narrates how anyone can be a hero. Take a minute to watch the #MainBhiHero film.
Every individual who understands his or her Individual Social Responsibility (ISR) is a Hero. As Mr. CP Gurnani rightly points out, “With #MainBhiHero movement, we align an individual’s economic growth with contribution to the Healthcare sector of the country. #MainBhiHero is a movement that reaches out to the diverse sections of our society and leaves no life untouched and no hero unsung. It feels great to encourage our youth to Rise for Good.”
We urge you to be a Hero and join the movement. All you need to do is simply Refer a Hero who wants to or who is a good fit to pursue a career in paramedics and earn a respectable living.
A SPORTS MEET, #RiseForGood WAY
As you are aware, The Foundation mandates that 10% of all our beneficiaries are Persons with Disabilities. Moving with the mandate and the theme of the year, we supported the INCLU- SIVE SPORTS MEET. A day long event where students across with visual or speech or hearing impairment participated at par with others. The Inclusive Sports Meet included sports like Wheelchair Basket Ball, Relay Races, Needle and Thread Race, Bowling, 50 and 100 meters races, Shot Put among many oth- er. Besides the sports and games, the day was buzzing with a lot of smiles and happy faces.
I am happy to share that over 800 students from across 22 schools and 200+ Tech Mahindra Volunteers participated in the event. The Sports Meet was just a reflection of our intention to promote inclusivity as we impact lives as part of our work.
A big kudos to all TechM Volunteers for all their zeal and com- passion. Thanks for joining us as we #RiseForGood!

Innovative learning at the SMART Healthcare Academy
It gives me immense please to share the innovation and effort of our Tech Mahindra SMART Academy for Healthcare, Delhi students.
Some of them have worked on ‘How to perform a CPR’. CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a lifesaving medical procedure which is

HOPE FOR A BETTER AND INCLUSIVE WORLD
I extend my warm wishes to you for a healthy and joyous New Year! This is the time of the year when all of us resolve to identify new goals.
At the Foundation, our focus area for 2019 is to create consciousness and work towards empowering Persons with Disabilities.
Let me introduce you to Firoz Malik. He is the son of a labourer who lives in East Delhi, Seelampur. Firoz was born deaf and had little access to Education. Both Firoz and his parents knew that as long as they are alive, they would take care of Firoz. Their concern was what will happen to Firoz after them. It was then that he enrolled himself in the Hospitality course from Delhi SMART+ centre.
Today, Firoz works as a Wishmaster-Delivery Executive and mimes ‘I never thought of being an employee of such a big brand like Flipkart’.
The Foundation support Persons with Disabilities through ARISE+ (our school education program) and SMART+ (our employability program). I would urge you to contact our Foundation team at your locations and volunteer for the cause or refer Persons with Disability to one of our SMART+ centres at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Stay connected for stories of courage, joy and hope as we walk along the coming year.
Once again, Happy New Year!
SMART STUDENT MAKING US PROUD
I am proud to share the story of Harish who passed out in 2015 from our SMART center in Hyderabad and is now earning Rs.45,000 per month which, with incentives adds up to 12 Lakhs per month.
Many years have passed since was started our first SMART center in 2012. From a humble beginning, the journey has been remarkable for the SMART programmer, we started with four training centers and today we train 20,000 youth in different courses. The USP of the programmer has been its well-vetted module which stands on three foundation skills: basic English, basic IT skills, and job readiness.
After the SMART centers we started SMART Academies and now we are on the way to setting up vocational centers.
Thanks to the tremendous support of each at Tech Mahindra Without Which we would not have made this huge impact.
